Astilbe ‘Chocolate Shogun’ has glossy chocolate colored foliage with light pink flowers in mid to late summer and is one of the best dark leafed plants available. While some plants need either a light spring frost, some direct light, or some other kind of stress to get their foliage to turn dark, this Astilbe has proven that even when it is happy in the shade, with regular moisture, it still shows off the dark color.
