'Galaxy' is a hybrid Magnolia that produces fragrant rose-pink to reddish-purple flowers in late April to early June. Large, medium-green leaves appear in clusters at the branchlet tips. Although it usually requires little pruning other than the removal of dead or damaged branches, it is best to prune immediately after flowering. ‘Galaxy’ blooms late enough in spring (2-3 weeks after early blooming magnolias) that its flowers are unlikely to suffer any significant frost damage.
