Description
Foamy Bells are a cross between Heuchera (Coral Bells) and Tiarella (Foamflower), combining the best traits of each genus; the dramatic colored leaves of Heuchera and the plant’s habit along with the deeply lobed leaves and the tendency to sport red variegation at the center of each leaf from Tiarella. The display begins in spring when new leaves unfurl in bright gold overlaid with a dark shade of red. As the weeks pass, the gold disappears from the base of the leaves but remains along the veins and the edges. And by the time the warm summer weather arrives, the gold has turned to emerald green and the center of each leaf is glowing a rich, deep violet. Before spring is out, the plant is topped with 16 inch flowerstems bearing masses of bell-shaped pale pink to white flowers, remaining into summer! Dense, vigorous and very tolerant of heat and humidity. Hummingbirds visit these blooms religiously!
