Sweet Basil is an aromatic herb commonly used in fresh cooked recipes. Leaves are large, light green and silky and are very fragrant when crushed or even rubbed between your fingers. It will produce spikes of small white flowers, however it is recommended that the plant be kept trimmed to prevent flowering, as the flowers detract from the plant’s flavor. Basil is very sensitive to cold temperatures.
Best planted in average, well-drained soil. Do not overwater, especially when young.
