Description
Philodendron ‘Black Cardinal’ has blackish-green, broad oval leaves. However when new leaves emerge, they are initially burgundy red, but as they mature they become a dark green, turning to almost black. Black Cardinal is a mounding variety. Allow the top two inches of soil to become dry to the touch before watering, and do not allow the plant to sit in water. Soggy soil can cause root rot. Bright, indirect light is best but be sure to keep out of direct sunlight as it can burn the leaves.
