Very fragrant and tasty with beautiful large, bright green, crinkled, aromatic leaves. Valentino basil is particularly appreciated for its compact growth, forming small uniform bush. Basil can be dried or used fresh. It is best used fresh, as drying it will lose its perfume and quite a bit of flavor. A favorite with French cooks, who have traditionally used its leaves in soups and salads. Excellent for dressings, sauces, beans, peppers and eggplant. Basil is also an effective bug repellent.

Grows best in fertile, moist but well drained soil. Do not over water, especially when young.
Compact, bushy habit.

Tiny white flowers bloom late in the season.
