A native broadleaf semi-evergreen shrub, Northern Bayberry makes a great selection for those less-than-ideal locations. Lustrous, dark green aromatic foliage and gray berries on female plants attract birds through winter. Prefers to be located in full sun, but will tolerate some shade. Excellent for hedges.
Prefers moist, well-drained soil, rich in organic matter. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Evergreens prefer an acidic fertilizer.
Lustrous, dark green oblong leaves.
Inconspicuous; gray berries persist into winter. Berries are NOT edible.
