Description
Noted for its cold-hardiness, ‘Chicago Hardy’ Fig is considered to be one of the hardiest varieties. In late summer, the fruit ripens on new wood and is deep purple with strawberry-colored flesh. Prized for its impressively sweet, rich flavor. Though it may die back to the ground during the cold of winter, it will regenerate from its roots and produce fruit by fall. Self-fertile, it does not need cross-pollination. Best planted in full sun.
