Description
Similar to the popular Pansy in many ways, Violas (aslo called Johnny Jump Up) have smaller flowers with the same blotched face pattern, often bicolor in combinations such as purple and yellow, or blue and white. Hardier than Pansy, Violas are a better choice when planting in the fall if you want them to make it through winter and be there first thing in Spring. Full sun and well drained soil are ideal, but watch out for deer and rabbits! Those critters love to nibble the flowers (and often leaves, too).
