This Japanese Maple goes by the name of “Red Fingernails”, due to bright red tips that show up dramatically on light green, almost yellow newly emerging leaves. The color persists through spring before fading to dark green by summer with bright red fall color. ‘Tsuma Gaki’ performs best in partial shade and will grow over time into a small tree.
